Hello, world — a fresh start

  • #meta
  • #astro

I finally rebuilt my personal site. The old one had been sitting untouched for years — a half-finished template with placeholder links and a bio I never liked. This time I kept it simple: a single column, a monospace typeface, and one accent color.

Why Astro

I build with a lot of frameworks day to day — React, Phoenix, Rails — but for a mostly-static personal site, none of that earns its keep. Astro ships zero JavaScript by default, renders Markdown out of the box, and gets out of the way. The whole site is a handful of components and a content collection.

What I’ll write about

Mostly the things I work on:

  • Backend — Elixir/Phoenix, Rails, and the occasional Go service.
  • iOS — Swift, and the parts of native development that surprise me.
  • The boring glue — deploys, migrations, and the small decisions that compound over a project’s life.

No fixed schedule. I’d rather post something I actually learned than fill a calendar slot. More soon.
